“Fluvial Technologies. Generative Art”

Reeperbahn Festival, Hamburg 2023

Between Technology and Art

COLLIDE curates encounters between selected musical acts and creative visual artists. In this in- house project, unique visuals are matched to the music of the respective artists or bands and are presented on a 24-part screen installation.

In this way, three songs at a time become a multi- sensory live performance, which creates an overall experience that is far more than the sum of its individual parts. And although COLLIDE is impressive enough on the panorama screen, it is worth taking a look behind the scenes of this special artistic interplay between image and sound. Studio.AbsTime know how to translate a creative vision onto the LED screen. In a total of 18 visuals, they have worked on COLLIDE for songs by Sirens of Lesbos, Ravi Kuma, and Dina Summer, among others.

The artistic duo from Cologne use emerging technologies as well as nature as a source of inspiration to create their installations and performances. At Reeperbahn Festival, the two multimedia artists Michelle Bocker (design) and Anna Balthasar (videography) will discuss their working methods and techniques and answer the following questions: What inspires the artists? What tips and experiences can they give aspiring visual artists? How do time and resources affect their projects? And what role does music play in the creative process? A look behind the scenes of COLLIDE.

The reading was hosted by Helen Meyer.
